i will read thru all this again. Bliss this all against the grain for me, I am trying to not let what is programmmed in me stop my being open minded. I find it all hard to process being a former competitve runner and former collegiate all american. What barefoot bob is saying makes sense, it is some of the same advice I give people about other parts of the body. I do treat alot of plantar fascitis in my office, I have wondered why recently we see more of it , than in the past. The last 5 years especially. Thanks for the info.
dont judge me based on your ignorance .
Thanks Bliss. So that you know as I stated before I ran competitively for close to 10 years. I still hold some records at my high school. I went to college on an athletic scholarship, in 1986 I was a cross country all american. Before I quit running ( giving up a year of eligibilty to become a chiropractor ), I had ran on the track a 1500 equal to that of 4:05 mile, on the road I had ran 3:50 for multiple miles. my 10 mile times were in the 46 -47 min range usually on the low side. in high school I was running 5k in cross country under 15:30.
I only say this to let you know running use to be my life, it was an avenue that provided me a college ed. Shoes were always a big part of running for me. I love what barefoot bob is saying. trying to get out of my comfort range.
When over the next couple of weeks my office schedule settles down for me I think I will contact him. I think alot of his info will be helpful to alot of my patients. Always learning to help others, even when it puts me out of my comfort range.
Question, what about lifting barefooted. I have seen pics of arnold squating barefoot. Does he have an opinion about that.
dont judge me based on your ignorance .
Lifting barefoot--don't know what he says
I like the idea myself.
You were pretty fast.
I dipped down to about 17 flat 5k myself in high school.
I was pretty into different shoes myself.
I got injuries sometimes too.
2 mile--10:20
Not as fast as you, but there was some talent there.
Bob is going to tour America giving free guidance in towns along the way.
He does not call them seminars--more like get togethers.
Check his personal site and see if he's coming to your town.
He was recently interviewed in Runner's World, but is quite accessible.
I think he's run about 60 marathons barefoot, but do not quote me on that.
All honest people are interested in the truth. That's all.
You are honest.
He is honest.
It's all good and we can only gain by staying open.
I sent you the link so that you could chime in on The Running Barefoot site yourself if you chose to.
It struck me as a little absurd to keep posting replies from other blog sites.
I too am training for a marathon! A half-one, that is(May 16, to raise money for NH Liberty groups). I used to run as a kid so the distance is no problem, I am training for speed on the treadmill currently. Wow, I am really inspired with the barefoot thing; what you said makes sense to me. I am going to check out that website now. So, when I train at the gym, I should wear socks, right? I don't want to freak out the other people. I guess I'll find out more at the website...
wait, I just had a client that cam in and said my feet would look horrible and be ugly if I do this. I want to keep my pretty feet! Any thoughts?

Those folks are discussing it.
Lots of info on the site.
He's sort of to barefoot running what heyzeus909 is to natural bodybuilding.
PS I just walked to and from the Farmer's Market barefoot--about an hour walk both ways--and I just love the way it's like I just got a foot massage.
